Wilmington Grammar School
New Teaching Building, Dartford
Duration on Site: 46 weeks
Directline Structures designed and constructed a new £1.35m teaching building, the “Evans Building”. This followed Wilmington Grammar School for boys being designated a Specialist School with Engineering College status. The building incorporates 12 teaching rooms and a purpose-built engineering suite for design teaching. Strict specification requirements had to be met to support government regulations relating to acoustics and ventilation in school buildings. The mansard-style steel frame creates well lit, useful rooms in the roof space and an iconic appearance.
“So many contractors claim to work to budget and programme and so many don’t actually deliver either. Directline Structures are a rarity – our new building was on time, on programme and exceeded expectations.” Lynda Clarke, Bursar.
“This is an innovative method of construction and good value for this stunning building.” Paul Carter, Leader of Kent County Council
