Q. This is my first building project, what can I expect?
A. At Directline Structures, we take pride in our straight forward and honest approach to construction. We provide a complete service from initial consultation to handing over the keys, you won’t need anyone else..
Q. Do I need other consultants? What if I’ve already appointed an Architect?
A. We have all the skills in house to deliver projects from the very start. However, we are also very well placed to work with a wider team of professionals, or we can work with your existing designs or planning permission to get your project up and running.
Q. Why should I use a Design and Build company rather than an Architect?
A. This is a very big question and the simple answer is that we can offer you better value for money and a single point of contact and liability. Our seamless team, with an Architect and Engineer working closely together, means that we can get your project up and running much quicker than traditional procurement, saving you time and money. It also means that our price really is a fixed price with no hidden costs or fees. We are the sole point of liability for our buildings and we take this very seriously.
Q. Do you prepare the planning application?
A. Yes. We prepare an outline design scheme with you and then work with the Planning Authorities to submit a planning application on your behalf, as your “agent”. Although we cannot guarantee the application is successful, we have a very good track record of working with the planners to get even the most difficult applications through planning.
Q. I’ve been given a quote that is way over my budget, can you help?
A. Yes. We design to maximise efficiency and get the best value possible for you. Because we are a Design and Build company we can offer you a fixed price, giving you the peace of mind that there will be no hidden costs and fees at the end of the project. We have had many clients come to us thinking that their project would never go ahead, but our expertise has allowed us to bring them the building they want at the price they can afford.
Q. Do you only build in Steel?
A. No, we will build in whichever medium is most suitable for your project. We specialise in steel and often clients do not realise that it may be the best way to get the most out of their building, but we have the expertise to use timber framed or traditional construction methods as well.
Q. Can you build my house?
A. We assess every project on its merits and are always happy to talk through your requirements with you. Please contact us to discuss your individual requirements.
Q. Do you only work in Kent?
A. No. We are based in Kent but have undertaken jobs around the country and even some abroad.
